MyRo for VicRoads

Overview

The Melbourne Liveability Monitor for Metro is an Internet of Things (IOT) monitoring platform which receives, aggregates and analyses data from sound, vibration, and air quality sensors put in place for the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project.

Challenge

Installed on and around the site are a number of different types of sensors from various suppliers, which send data in different formats. The challenge was to connect all these different sensors to the one monitoring platform, and transform the different types of data into equivalent measurements. In addition, the Metro Tunnel is a very large and visible project, and the impact of misinterpreting the monitoring data has the potential to cause significant environmental issues for the general public and compliance issues for the companies involved in the project.

Solution

As a part of the Cross Yarra Partnership, we developed the Melbourne Liveability Monitor for Metro. It is an Internet of Things (IOT) monitoring platform which receives data from sound, vibration, and air quality sensors put in place for the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project. The system aggregates the data received from the sensors, and performs real-time analysis to enable compliance with environmental regulations via notifications and audit records.
