The WSP Digital team attended the “Transforming the Yarra” project launch in Melbourne today.

Transforming the Yarra is an innovative audio, visual and location based tour of Melbourne’s Yarra river and it’s redevelopment. It tells the story of how the Yarra precinct has been transformed as a hub for recreation and culture since the 1980s and honours the visionary work of many of Melbourne’s urban designers, planners, architects and politicians towards this transformation.

This project was officially launched by the Victorian Premier John Brumby along with the unveiling of a plaque honouring former Planning Minister Evan Walker and Secretary of the Ministry of Planning David Yencken in recognition of their instrumental roles in the transformation.

The Transforming the Yarra iPhone Application, developed by WSP Digital, is available for download on the Apple App Store. The Yarra walk it guides users through runs 2km from Princes Bridge to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and features 5 x 5 minute audio chapters, each with associated historical and current images of the Yarra development along with introductory images and biographies of the key speakers.
